Dr. Hauwa Balami is a Medical Practitioner, and the Co-founder of Give Girls A Chance, a non-profit that supports girls and young women to access and maximize the benefits of quality education through scholarships, capacity building, and advocacy. Dr. Hauwa is an advocate for girl child education, gender equality, and female empowerment. She actively works to create opportunities for girls and women in all areas of their life (health, education, and leadership). Her vision is to foster a nation where all girls are given equal opportunities to access quality education and career growth. Dr, Hauwa completed medical school at Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and works as a Physician in Abuja, Nigeria. She enjoys all aspects of medicine and wellness; holds a master’s in Biomedical Research (Morehouse School of Medicine USA) with a keen interest in public health and health policy. Dr. Hauwa was born in Maiduguri Borno State on the 17th March 1987 , raised in the South/South, and schooled in the North and Southwest of the country.
