Very salient points, however, willingness to say "yes" was the key one for me. Most times, I find myself struggling with accepting certain assignments or projects, not because of laziness or a lackadaisical attitude but fear. The fear of not delivering right or not meeting expectations. I am grateful for this video, do keep up the good work. |
Ure
Thank you very much for your comment, Amarachi. Say "Yes" and find someone to help you meet your goals. Looking forward to your future comments
Ayodele |

Very well said. Saying yes to a project can be good, but only if you are willing to ask for help and develop yourself! I love forward to your next video |

This is very lovely and also very useful, there is nothing more to add or subtract from this piece. You talked about so many things in just less than 9mins. Am lucky I came across this. Nice work. |
Ure
Dear Chimezie, so very kind of you. Looking forward to your future comments
Lorraine |

Great video. The topic of differentiating oneself is often overlooked - the tendency is typically to over rely on academic qualifications and professional experience rather than behaviors that make one stand out above their peers. I particularly like the points around 'saying yes', as well as emotional intelligence. It takes courage to get beyond one's comfort zone, but as you pointed out in the video, are often game changes. Excellent, crisp and much needed video. |
Ure
Dear Lorraine, you are so right. They say "do it scared but do it." Looking forward to your future comments
Grace |

Great and apt points. These points will actually differentiate one at workplace. More importantly to me is seeking help when necessary cos no man is an island. The aspect of emotional intelligence is also key. Looking forward for more videos. Thank you Dr Urenna for this. |

Chidozie |

Great points Dr. Onyewuchi! Early on in life, I learned about the habit of going the extra mile; this is tied to not just saying "yes", but getting the work done effectively. This has always made a lot of difference for me and would make anyone stand out professionally. All other points mentioned are linked to saying "yes". I would like to add that sometimes you can decide to volunteer to get certain tasks done even before you are asked. |
Ure
Dear Chidozie, this is a beautiful point. I love it. Looking forward to your future comments
Temitope |

Its precise and straight to the point. Very lovely points to take to heart. I'll love a talk/discussion on Emotional intelligence as not many people are yet inform of this part of intelligence. |

With the above, I am particularly keen in the emotional intelligence; sound very interesting. |
Ure
Dear Oyella, thank you very much for your kind comment. I will share more on emotional intelligence in the near future. MindEdge has a course on this for managers. Feel free to recommend to as many managers as you know but look out for what I share on it soon. Looking forward to your future comments

Well said and beautifully articulated. saying yes, resourcefulness and getting help from the right sources is key to success. In addition to the display of integrity which shows character. Many people will love to do stuff with people with integrity because talent will only take you were character can keep you. Keep up the good work Dr Uchenna. |

I have learnt so many things in 8mins. The first point got me; the willingness to say "yes" is a gateway to the big picture. This is really encouraging, thank you. |
Ure
Dear Urenna (namesake), thank you for your comment. I will have to make videos specifically on emotional intelligence and "saying yes" as these have stood out the most. Looking forward to your comments on future videos.

Well laid out, thanks in anticipation for more. |
Ure
Dear Eloka. Thank you. You will receive emails with new video updates.
Olasubomi |

One of the things I've come to realize is that a lot of times the fear of failing to deliver causes people to resist saying "yes" in situations they should. From this video, I now understand that even if the unexpected happens, your ability to effectively close loose ends still puts you in a good position with your teammates, colleagues or partners as it concerns future projects. |
Ure
Dear Olasubomi, thank you for your comment. You hit the nail on the head. Future projects will come easily and quickly as you conquer challenging projects that others may have turned down.
Olaniyi |

This is very insightful. Sometimes I do feel I can't undertake a certain task but as u progress and learn I do my very Best. Saying yes brings the best of out an individual. Continuous learning is key and working with others improves collaboration, information sharing and communication. Remote working has bring a lot changes in the work environment. Integrity is a very key ethical practice for all professional. This video is very helpful for Self development and professional growth. Investing in knowledge is the best asset Thanks so much for these Insights Dr Urenna Onyewuchi. I hope to be part of this Great learning institute. |
Ure
Dear Olaniyi, thank you for making my evening. You picked up on all the points. Great!!
Blessing |
---|
I like how you link the ideas, one to the other. The first point strikes a deep cord with me. That's because I have a hard time stepping into very unfamiliar spaces. Thanks for sharing. |
Ure
Dear Blessing. You are very welcome. Saying yes to something unfamiliar is definitely scary. I say "we do it scared but we do it." This is why we have to build and keep relationships with different subject matter experts. They will always prove useful even as you prove useful to them in their own projects.
Esosa |

Dear Glory, thank you for taking time to comment. I am looking forward to your future ones.

These points are all valid. For me, i think integrity is something that young people need to consciously cultivate. There's a huge gap amongst young people on integrity as it gets difficult to get young people to rely on to get things done. Thank you for the opportunity to listen to you. |
Ure
Dear Anthony, I absolutely LOVE the use of your word "consciously." This is incredibly important. Progress cannot be made without trust. I look forward to your future comments. Thank you.
Ibrahim |

Thanks you Dr, Urenna for taking your time to share this with us. |
Ure
Dear Ibrahim, I look forward to your future comments. Thank you.
Adeniyi |

Great points. Firstly, integrity is a hallmark principle everyone should work on. Also the ability to say yes when an opportunity abound. Thirdly, important to have senior colleagues or mentors in your industry or an industry you look forward to work in. Thank you very much |
Ure
Dear Adeniyi, I look forward to your future comments. Thank you for that. Mentorship is so important. It definitely deserves its own video.
Wisdom |

Great job Dr Urenna. I am particularly attracted to the not-common approach on the subject of personal effectiveness. Your unique blend of personal story and experience is not only a score for credibility but also a proof that the valid points you made are achievable. I look forward to subsequent lessons. And for the Aprofessional Africa initiative- more growths. |
Ure

What do you think about knowing when to say No to project offers? I believe its also crucial just as knowing when to say Yes. |
Ure
Dear Kayode. This is a powerful and important question. I will have to dedicate a video to it. But for now, a few things. I'll respond to the statement first from reverse. 1. Check why you said "No." If it is because of fear, that is not good enough. We all can accomplish anything if we try and get the right help or support. 2. Always ask for time to decide before saying "Yes" or "No." If you have made an effort to find people to help and have absolutely exhausted all your options, then consider saying "No." 3. However, it pays to fail too! Some of the biggest discoveries of life are made through mistakes. Sir Newton's gravity equations (and other inventions) came by experimenting. Edison invented his light bulb by failing. So, maybe say "Yes" anyway: failure makes you more creative. 4. The real answer is weigh the risks. Will your failure lead to a fatality? Will your company lose an insurmountable sum of money because of the mistake? Will you lose your job? Decide on your response based on these. 5. Always do this ---- Communicate to the project owner why you want to say Yes (if you do): what your experience is or is not and your plan to getting it done. Communicate why no: what your experience is or is not and how you think the cost outweighs the benefit. Let the person choose for you and carry the risk! 6. Often times, if you have done well on prior projects, a sponsor or champion in the corporation will vouch for you and carry the risk. So, try to find a sponsor, probably through a mentor or coach. I hope these help!
Kayode
Thank you. I really appreciate your time. This response is really insightful. Thank you.

Great content Ure. The five nuggets you shared can make a whole lot of difference when applied at any point in ones career. A follow-up to this would be to look at how professionals can navigate an ever changing workplace especially in Africa. As an example one can have individual integrity and may even work for an organization that touts this as a value...yet have to content with colleagues or superiors who have different agendas. Apologies if I have gone off a tangent. |
