Who is the founder of the "A Professional Africa" platform?

The founder of the platform is Dr. Urenna Onyewuchi. She earned her doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology (GA Tech) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and has since worked in several countries for Corning Incorporated; and taught in China and the US for Georgia Tech and Regis University. She is most known for her asset management work for power utilities, power quality and smart metering work for industrial plants, youth and women mentorship, affinity group leadership, and IEEE Power Africa Conferences. She has a passion for women, engineering, Africa and global low-income communities. She plans to significantly improve professional development in Africa. What do Access Time and Course Length mean?

Access time is the amount of time you have to complete the course and receive a certificate without having to pay for an extension. It is given in days. Please see individual courses and certificate programs for specific access times. The course length, in hours, is the amount of time it takes the average person to complete the course in one seating. Because we understand the schedule of most of our learners, we have long access times to allow for busy schedules.

 

After I pay for my course, what do I do?

You should receive confirmation of your purchase by email soon after. You will receive your course content 24 to 48 hours after your payment posts to our account, at which time our partner will send you your log-in credentials to take your course. From our partner's platform, you will be able to ask questions or receive technical assistance should you need support while taking your course.

 

I can't access my course. What should I do?

 

If you forgot your password, please visit your login screen and click on the Forgot Password link. You will be asked to confirm your email address and a password reset link will be sent to that email address. If you are enrolled in a for-credit course and are having technical issues, you can contact our help desk and also submit a request for assistance through A Professional Africa Contact Us page. Note that you will need your enrollment email to access your course.

If your access period has expired, you can purchase an access extension by visiting your login screen and clicking on the button next to the course you'd like to extend. If you are having trouble making a purchase, please submit a request for assistance using the Contact Us link above.

 

How do I find my certificate of completion?

Learners can download and print a PDF certificate of completion from their course records page, accessible after logging into the learning management system. Certificates are accessible anytime, even after access to the course has expired.

What's your refund policy?

You may request a refund within 48 hours from the purchase date. The registration fee will only be refunded if less than 10% of the course has been completed.

For-credit learners:

How do I report an error in the content?

We are always interested in improving the quality of our courses. Every MindEdge-partnered course has an "Ask the Expert" feature that allows learners to submit questions on content or technical issues. Use this feature to report errors. Learners will receive an answer back within 24 to 48 hours. Send an email to customerservice@aprofessionalafrica.com with your name, course title, assignment number, "Course Error" in the subject line, and any details related to the content error. We will contact you as soon as the issue has been resolved.

Is my course printable?

Some courses do have printable materials. Video, games, and assessments are not available for download.

 

What are Open Badges?

Open Badges are digital credentials that consist of a badge image and detailed information (meta data) that is "baked into" the image file, which enables institutions and employers to verify the issuer of the Badge and also check the criteria that a learner is required to meet to earn the Badge.

Open Badges are an innovative solution created by Mozilla with support from the MacArthur Foundation, HASTAC, and others that enable learners to collect, share, and display specific knowledge, skills, and experiences online.

 

What is the Refund Policy?

You may request a refund up to 2 days from the purchase date. The registration fee will only be refunded if less than 10% of each course in the certificate has been completed. Completion percentage can be viewed on the Course Progress page from within the course.

How long before taking the certification exam again? 

With the exception of Six Sigma you can retake the test right away.

 

Can I start a MindEdge certification exam and come back and finish it at a later time? 

No, you will lose the answers and have to start over. With Six Sigma it would count as your exam and you would have to retake the exam. See the question above for details on that.
